To understand the concept of "why leveling machines can improve the quality of metal sheets," it is first necessary to explain leveling technology. Today, the editorial team at Dongfang Machinery will explore this topic with you.

A leveling machine is a precision mechanical device used to correct defects in coil stock and sheet metal. Defects found in cold-rolled materials include Coil Set (longitudinal curling), Crossbow (transverse warping), Twist, and Edge Camber (edge sickle bend). When strip material is wound into coils, it induces Coil Set and Crossbow defects. The inner surface of the coil undergoes longitudinal elongation relative to the outer surface of the uncoiled material. This longitudinal elongation causes transverse contraction of the material, thereby producing Crossbow. On wider materials, these defects manifest specifically as wavy edges, coil breaks, and center buckling. Wavy edges and center buckling are more common in wide and thin materials. During the cold rolling process of strip material, defects in the rolling mill can also cause certain sections of the material's cross-section to be thinner than other areas. As a result, the thinner sections of the material are slightly longer than the thicker sections, which produces waviness in the longer regions.
