The roller plate leveling machine utilizes the "Bauschinger Effect" of materials to subject plates to multiple alternating forward and reverse bending cycles, gradually transforming various initial curvatures into a single uniform curvature, thereby achieving a flat result. This model features a non-parallel roll arrangement — that is, the upper and lower rows of work rolls are staggered, and the upper row has an adjustable tilt function. The upper row can be tilted at an angle relative to the lower row, with the gap gradually widening from the entry side to the exit side. In this way, as the steel plate being leveled is sequentially drawn into the work rolls of the leveling machine, the bending curvature of the plate passing through progressively decreases. This means that the plate at the entry side undergoes plastic deformation, and as it moves toward the exit side, the plastic deformation gradually diminishes until it becomes purely elastic deformation at the exit side.
When the plate passes through the upper and lower work rolls, the "Bauschinger Effect" is utilized to subject the plate to multiple alternating forward and reverse bending cycles, gradually converting various initial curvatures into a single uniform curvature. This reduces the residual stress in the plate and ensures a more uniform stress distribution. At the same time, since all work rolls in this machine are driven rolls, the subsequent rolls continuously apply a tensile force to the plate along the direction of the rolls, which is beneficial for eliminating internal stresses in the plate. This deformation characteristic of the leveling process enables more effective correction of irregular bending in plates, meeting the requirements of high-precision leveling principles.
A leveling machine is also known as a cut-to-length machine, flattening machine, straightening machine, correction machine, or decoiling straightener. The more formal name is "plate leveling machine," but it is commonly referred to as a "straightening machine" simply because that is the name people have grown accustomed to over time.
Leveling machines are suitable for leveling various cold-rolled and hot-rolled plates. Due to their convenient and simple operation, they are widely used across industries such as machinery, metallurgy, building materials, chemicals, electronics, electrical power, and light industry. They are especially indispensable in industries such as shipbuilding, locomotive and rolling stock, boiler and bridge construction, and metal structure fabrication.
