With the rapid development of the industrial economy, performance requirements for coil materials are continuously increasing. Utilizing cut-to-length (CTL) equipment for uncoiling, leveling, and shearing has become the primary production method. A CTL machine is a large-scale metal processing equipment that performs a series of operations, including uncoiling, leveling, and shearing, on metal coils. Currently, based on production capacity, CTL machines in the market are generally divided into three categories: medium-to-thick plate CTL, precision mini CTL, and thin-sheet wide CTL. These three types can basically meet various coil processing requirements. Generally, the workflow of a CTL machine involves the following steps:
Loading → Uncoiling → Feeding → Looping → Slitting & Edge Trimming → Scrap Winding → Transition → Precision Leveling → Looping → Film Laminating → Cut-to-Length → Shearing → Belt Conveying → Stacking → Discharge Car.
Among these, uncoiling, precision leveling, and shearing are crucial and indispensable components of the entire CTL line.
Although CTL machines feature excellent overall structures and stable, reliable operation, there are several operational precautions to keep in mind during use:
Safety First: Always prioritize personal safety and never approach the rotating parts of the CTL machine while it is running.
Pre-operation Check: Before production, operators must inspect and lubricate all sliding parts of the machine.
Stop Before Reversing: Never reverse or change the direction of the machine while it is running at high speed. The machine must be completely stopped first.
Cable Protection: To ensure production safety, ensure that the coil material does not come into contact with power cables during the uncoiling process to prevent cable damage.
Fastener Inspection: After prolonged use of the steel plate CTL machine, it is necessary to check for loose nuts and bolts. If any are found, secure them with a wrench.
 Operators should be fully familiar with every operational detail of the CTL machine. During the debugging process, operators must also pay close attention to their own safety to avoid accidents and maximize personal protection.
